Writing Update 8/15/26

Hello there, internet. Today I finished writing in my latest journal, which I started in January of this year. As I filled up the last page, I’m reminded of what Stephen King said about Journals as “The best way to immortalize bad ideas”. I disagree with Mr.King wholeheartedly. I basically collect and write in them all the story ideas that pop into my head. I like to track the evolution of my own ideas. For example, the idea for Gorehound, one of the novels I’ve wanted to write for a while, dates back to 2015. As of today, I’m writing what I consider a second draft of the story. I am going to have to update the progress bar for it, which should be done by the time this is posted. I’m working off an outline I made using the pilot script I wrote with the same idea, and the previous draft I couldn’t bring myself to finish. The Pilot script, also titled Gorehound(!), is the more cohesive of the two. So far, following the outline, it has turned into seven chapters. This is at a rate of about 1000-1500 words a day. The outline contains information for the first eight chapters. In total, as of this writing, I have 10,557 words. My goal is to have 25,000 by the end of the Summer. Since I’m out of college, it will be an interesting challenge for me. My ultimate goal for the novel is for it to be roughly 80,000-90,000 words long.
